– Stills are not mandatory but recommended.

Our requirement is that all content must be submitted with English closed captions.

Closed captions serve not only hearing-impaired viewers but also fulfill the demands of streaming channels for various reasons beyond hearing issues. Nowadays, audiences often watch films in noisy cafes, on commuter trains, in bars, or simply at home while multitasking with cooking and children. Closed captions enable viewers in all these scenarios to comfortably enjoy your content.

Basic Requirements:

– We prefer the SubRip (.srt) format in plain UTF-8. We recommend using a text editor like BBEdit to open and save your .srt files in UTF-8 format.
– Scenarist Closed Captions (.scc) are also accepted. SCC files require the selection of a frame rate. Learn more about SCC.
– All text tracks should be complete, accurate, and synchronized with the video at all times.
– Proper punctuation and spelling are essential.
– Avoid using formatting tags.
– For other file formats, you can convert them to SubRip using the following applications or web apps: Subtitle Edit, Subtitle Converter, REV Caption Converter.
– We recommend playing back your video in our system with the text track enabled, jumping to random spots to ensure the text track remains in sync.

Text Track Rule Requirements:

– Each subtitle should be limited to a maximum of 43 characters per line.
– Maintain a minimum gap of 66 milliseconds between subtitles.
– The maximum characters per second should not exceed 25.
– Subtitle duration should range from a minimum of 800 milliseconds to a maximum of 8000 milliseconds.
– Each subtitle should not exceed a maximum of 2 lines.
– Subtitles shorter than 43 characters should remain unbroken.
– We recommend using the “Fix common error” feature in Subtitle Edit to identify and rectify any rule errors before submitting your title.

Mixed Language Titles:

– If English is the primary audio language, you can include burned-in English subtitles for non-English dialogue and provide a separate English closed caption file that excludes the lines already burned-in.
– If English is a secondary audio language, the main video should be provided without burned-in subtitles. Instead, you should include a complete English closed caption file that covers all dialogues and atmospherics. Additionally, it is recommended to upload two additional English text tracks:
1. English subtitles solely for non-English dialogue, excluding atmospherics.
2. English closed captions for English dialogue along with atmospherics.
